Are you looking for some patio covers? Do you want something to just provide some shade like the lattice patio covers or something that gives more enclosed protection? Patio covers come in various kinds and in various materials. Also available are kits where everything is ready to be installed - a do it yourself solution. They are available in kaleidoscope of colors, a wide range of sizes, and are very easy to repair too. Only keep a few tools like the screw drivers and pliers handy. And you are in for some great times ahead.
Aluminum For Patios: The Unbeatable Advantages
Aluminum says much for itself. It needs no maintenance. Being a metal it’s naturally water proof - and it doesn’t rust either. It won’t warp or bend with the harsh weather conditions. It will not crack or chip or burn. Neither will it need to be repainted nor will the termites feast on it. What’s more - the once drab aluminum covers are now as elegant as any of the wood covers.
Easy To Maintain
Aluminum never rusts like with many other metals. And if you are living by the sea side this proves a boon. Metal patio covers - being exposed to the sun and the salt water - have a tendency to rust. But not so with aluminum. The humid atmosphere will not harm the aluminum cover. And you don’t have to worry that your aluminum patio cover will fly away or get torn as may happen with covers made of fabric materials. Only little care is required on your behalf. And all you need to do is some cleaning regularly. Some elbow grease, soap water, water and a brush to scrub would be what you may need.
Painting Your Patio Cover
You rarely need to paint the aluminum patio cover, but if you desire a fresh, new look, then just go ahead and paint it.
Here’s what you would need to do …
Start with some cleaning and scrubbing, followed by drying till no amount of moisture is left. Apply a layer of metal primer that is oil based - something that’s close to your choice of color for the cover. Within 48 hours apply the final coat of paint. Finally finish by applying a good quality acrylic latex paint that will ensure longer life to your completed new job.
Remember, early mornings or late evenings are the best times to get your aluminum painted.
The only apparent drawback with these covers is that sunshine heats them up. So painting may definitely help you to a certain extent here and provde a better insulation from heat. If you can live with that, then this may be a good choice.
Multiple Uses:
The patios, the court yards, or even the adjoining area all can ideally be covered with aluminum patio covers. The awnings or canopies, pergolas or the gazebos all go well covered with aluminum. Pull in few chairs and tables, place a few cushions and you can have an excellent place for parties. They are also great as car covers.
